Can you believe, my baby turned three! And she has informed me that she is not a baby, but a little girl. Isn't that worse!!!
We had a little Nemo themed birthday. It kind of ended up more as a sea theme, oh well.
J.R. decorated! Amelia received a balloon bouquet (yeah!), and had a pinata (see the fish hanging from the fan?)
Her day consisted of being woken up by a serenade from Mommy. Not sure it was appreciated. She went to church, where all of her friends sung to her too!
She came home, and she opened her first present from Grandma Mini via skype. A baby doll that opens and closes her eyes, and you can play with her hair. Mila was so excited, and immediately started mothering. Then they were both so exhausted they went to take a 'rest'.
I was putting the finishing touches on birthday things when I looked out the window because I noticed my car was hairy and brown. A moose! I ran to get Amelia, because it was right outside her window. I think that was a rather startling awakening. Turns out the moose was a mommy and baby, and wandered around for quite a while. Long enough that Grandma and Grandpa couldn't come over!
We had Navajo tacos (yeah!), and Tawnya and Jessica came over to try Grandma Lafleur's chili! Once again, Mila was too distracted to eat, so she missed her birthday dinner.
Uncle Scott gave her a purse. A very large purse that fits a lot of things, so she is delighted!
Grandma and Grandpa Lafleur gave her a tutu shirt and skirt. She really liked it, but waited until the next day to wear it (after all, she was already wearing one!)
Stever and Grandma Lulu gave her Mr. Potato Head (which includes many, many pieces). She also received a Dora game, so she was enormously pleased with herself.
Mommy and Daddy aimed for bath toys, so she received a Little Mermaid barbie thing. We are also heading to Anchorage (and ToysRUs!) next week, where we will be going to a prehistoric creature exhibit. She has been saying that she doesn't want to go because they will eat her, and she's scared. So, Daddy gave her a Mammoth figurine and a book to go along with it.
Tawyna gave her a jacket. I'm not sure it was actually for Amelia. Tawyna has a compulsion with small child clothing (however, her youngest is 15), and sometimes Amelia is the closest target.
I forgot to take a picture of the cake! Which might be better.
We had carrot cake, with wretched blue cream cheese frosting. The frosting was yummy, but the blue was wrong. I know, it was supposed to be ocean, but it is an unappetizing color. Grandma Lafleur made 'ice cream' (somebody just got a VitaMix!). It was simply frozen berries and yogurt!
Grandma Mini also gave her the Very Hungry Caterpillar Game. That was a very happy thing.
Daddy playing 'with' Amelia. Daddy was pretty stoked.
The evening after, she finally had a chance for a bath to try out her new toys.
She was pretty stoked for this birthday. We'd been prepping her. She hid when we sang her Happy Birthday (too much attention). She gave some pretty serious aggression towards her pinata, but it was pretty stoutly built (four layers of cardboard? What happened to paper mache?). She was devastated to learn we'd taken down the streamers (that was a trippy experience, and a bit claustrophobic!), and kept asking where her party was? But, she knew she was two yesterday, and was three today! Oh, I remember the first one like it was yesterday . . . . .
Happy Birthday, Little Girl!
