A Room with a View

I may mention this often, but it seems as though I've been in Alaska too long.  It was just so odd/refreshing to walk out one's front door and already be somewhere.  Speaking of being somewhere, Scott and Sruthi bought this fabulous little house, about two blocks from the beach.  It was built in 1903, so you know it is sturdy if it can survive a major earthquake!  It is in need of some love and updating, but it has so many lovely quirks.

Here is the view from their bedroom.  Yeah, that's the ocean.
The view from their (huge!) back deck.
Sruthi is an enormously talented painter/artist.  She is also rather prolific, and her art adorns about any flat surface to be found.
I glazed over this one, then took a double take as it looked oddly familiar.  It's Gramma Mini with Mila when Mila was two.  I've always love the photo, so how cool is this?!
S&S have recently acquired this ferocious guard dog, Mac.  Or, he might be ferocious one day.  Until then, there is nothing more he wants than to love.  And steal little trinkets.
I had looked everywhere for Celisse's binky, sure that I'd left it on a side table.
I was unaware that I'd left it outside (in the rain), on the back deck.  For Mac to test out.  Sneaky little booger.
Welcome to my palace! (Check out the original yummy wood walls)

My brother has inherited my mom's approach to decorating.  He has this innate ability to take little things, things that anybody else would just pass over, and put them in little nooks.  Things that fascinate him, or are little treasures from his ocean.  It sounds stupid to say it, but it just warms my heart!  He's such a little homebody.
Ah, the piece de resistance!  How great is this book case?  I believe that it may be the reason they Scott was drawn to the house.
And the front.
We made a quickie stop to get a better view of the ocean, before we took off.

I just realized that it may seem odd I never really mentioned Sruthi, but she'd already gone out to Dallas to prepare for her nuptials.  Hence the reason I saw everything more from Scott's point of view.
