This, possibly, has been one of Amelia's favorite activities (which is saying a lot!).
Harvesting.
The weather had finally gotten to the point that the sun was not nearly as warm, and it was getting cold at nights (although, not freezing). Gramma decided that it was time to just yank everything out of the garden. I wasn't actually aware of this, and one sent Amelia over to play. She came back a couple of hours later, covered in dirt from head to toe, and eating a tomato like an apple. And smiling!
Gramma had already helped Amelia pick her green beans a couple of weeks ago. They had then immediately went in the house and steamed them for lunch.
One afternoon, it was time to pick the carrots.
It may not be apparent, but please notice that she is snacking while picking!
Here are her results! She is in love with herself. I've had the carrots in the fridge for her, and she keeps going in and 'sneaking' bites.
We were outside playing about a week later, and Mila decided that Gramma hadn't done a good enough job pulling carrots. So, she pulled out her shovel and started digging. She actually found quite a few, and went to tell Gramma that she needs to do a better job next time (this might sound insulting, but Gramma just gleams with pride).
I believe that Gramma will have a very willing partner next year.
