Meet our newest puppy

I began asking Amelia in August what she wanted to be for Halloween.  A princess?  Perhaps something else that might utilize anyone of the four tutu's she loves?  She wanted to be a dog, and more specifically, Sitka.  I waited (let's pretend it wasn't because I'm a natural procrastinator) to see if she would change her mind.  She never, ever wavered.  Ever.  Trust me, I tried.

We made a date to go to the fabric store.  We picked out a pattern, which was hard because the picture showed a brown dog.  "Mom, I don't want to be brown!  I want to be black and white with polka dots; like Sitka!".  I showed her some fabrics, but none were to her specification.  She was really picky!  We finally did it, though!

She could not wait, and begged me daily to work on this dang thing.  She said she was going to wear it all the time, and as jammies at night.  She supervised each step; black ears, one black arm, blah blah blah.  I then held off a few days before sewing on a collar.  She, however, was more than willing to help.
The time finally came.  After a nap, a hearty meal, and much yipping.  We began her final transformation.
Although it was rather warm out, we took the precaution of dressing in arctic gear.  I hadn't thought of that ahead of time, so thank goodness there was room under this get-up!  We were really lucky, because it was about 5 degrees.  It is typically 20 below, so this was good!  The poofy thermal wear made the costume extra cute, and rotund.

Our first stop (obviously) was to Gramma and Grampa's.  And more pictures (obviously).
A couple of pics with our inspiration.  He was none too thrilled to be included, by the by.

We then headed to the two uncles, which included some chatting.  Then it was off to the big town of North Pole for some serious door knocking.  May I explain her shock at yelling 'Trick or Treat', receiving candy, and having the door shut in her face?  People give you candy and you don't even need chat afterwards?  It was on!

We only went up and down two streets, with Daddy following us in the warm car.  She loved every minute of it, even explaining to other ghouls how to properly perform this rite.  They were grateful, I'm sure.

Did I mention only two streets?  Look at what she made off with!  Good stuff too!  No Good n' Plenty's of this puppy.
We finally made it home for a nice warm bath.  Afterwards, she was able to explore the treat that Stever AND Grandma Lulu sent to her.  It included a coloring book, some ghost tattoo's,
and a card.  She loved the card!  She promptly opened it up and told me what it said (apparently she reads now, who knew?).  I recorded it, so we'll have to see if I can get it on, but she went on, and on, and on.
The best part was some scrumptious chocolate pumpkin bread, which she informed me she was still hungry and needed to have before she went to bed.  At 11:00 pm.

So tasty.

She has hence declared she likes Halloween.

The next day I asked Grampa if they'd received any other visitors, and he said they only had had some strange dog show up.  Mila immediately piped in "Grampa, that was me!"

It's been a tough go since, though.  In order to get it over with, we thinned her stash a wee bit and then let her have it at her own discretion.  By we, I mean me.  A couple of rules were applied - #1 I'd better not find a wrapper, #2 she had to share with Mom or Dad if asked, and #3 she had to eat full meals.  Daddy was actually pretty angry.  I think it will all be over tomorrow, though.  Hallelujah!
