Little Girls, Little Girls. Everywhere I See 'em . . . . . . . .

I can tell you that one of my favorite Daddy-Daughter dates while growing up was going to see live theater.  One year, my dad even rounded up season tickets to a local playhouse, and we had a standing date of every first Tuesday.  (see Dad, I DO have good memories!)

Then I grew up, and married poorly.

There are few things that J.R. probably hates more than live theater.  I've had to look outside our marriage for a good theater date.  I think I found a good one, especially since she seems to be keen on having boys.  Adia keeps singing to Torrin, and I guess he keeps insisting that she not.

I had hoped one day to introduce Amelia to the theater, but with no real rush.  Then, it was announced.

Annie.

My daughter L.O.V.E.S. Annie.  Can she sing 'The Sun'll come out Tomorrow" in an operatic voice?  Yup.  Did I have to buy her tap shoes so that she could tap along with the 1981 movie version?  Absolutely.  Was she Annie last year for Halloween (even if nobody 'got it'.  How was this not obvious?  I'm still bitter.)  Yes, by the way.

Here are some reminders of last Halloween.

I mentioned to Adia that I would be having a date with my little lady if they wanted to accompany us.  They said yes!
We sat right up front, and Amelia almost came out of her skin with anticipation for the curtain to rise.  Then she proceeded to follow along with the actors, singing along at the top of her lungs!  Hard to decide whether to 'shush' her, or just be let her release her inner orphan.  We sang, by the way.

Afterwards, we went over to met 'Annie'.  I thought Amelia would be excited, but there was mortification in every cell of her body.  This picture does not show it, but she was not comfortable with it.  At all.  (She did mention it later to Daddy as amongst her list of 'awesomeness'.  Pixie.)
Then, for being such awesome theater-ites, we headed over to a local cafe for some treats.
You almost can't see her dead, black tooth amongst the green frosting.  Almost.

How cute is this little man?  He even dressed in a shirt other than his standard hockey shirt for this special occasion.  It was a big deal.

We have now been listing to Phantom of the Opera in the car.  She's not into it yet, telling me to turn down my music so that she can watch her show.  I'll wear her down, just wait.
