JR decided we, as a family, should go on a vacation for spring break. Really, that means Anchor-town. We were to leave after Amelia got home from church. She would fall asleep, and we could drive for several hours. This is probably the first time that have been able to psych her out for a vacation. Daddy promised her that we would go to the Anchorage Children's Museum to see their dinosaur exhibit; I think he also promised her a toy store.
When she got home from church, I pointed out her special bag. She immediately opened it up, and started ripping stuff out. "Mom, this is too much. I only need one jacket, Mom, just one. And there are too many shirts . . " When I told her dad, he was so pleased. So pleased.
Then we left. She fell asleep before we hit the end of the road. We stopped for last gas, and she perked right up. For the record, she was lively and perky for the rest of the road trip. 8 hours. No sleeping. She was, however, delightful the entire time. And another happy note, not one single potty accident. The subtle pleasures.
Monday was the first full day we were there, and coincided with the happiest day of my parents life (although I often have to remind them). We celebrated by going to our favorite pizza joint. See how happy Mila is to have Mommy around?
Dad was pretty stoked, as well.
We checked out ToysRUs. Mila was literally out of breath, with joy. She tested out all the bikes, balls, and decided the pink Cadillac Escalade would work out best for her. She also narrowed down her movie selection . . . . . .
Then it was off to the promised Museum.
J.R. was reprimanded for taking pictures. I guess they were worried that we would go home and duplicate the life size mammoth? For the record, not on our minds.
Then it was off to the beloved bubbles.
And the favorite? Again? The stupid boats, meant for 18 month olds.
All in all, it was a good trip. It was great weather, and we were able to just wear light jackets (!!!).
Daddy still does not like Anchorage traffic. These were taken at our last stop out of there.
This was Amelia's only nap on the way home, just another quickie. She gets so exhausted, then we stop for gas. Mommy napped more than she did, and I did very well this time!
