Take me to the smooth place

Alas, more biking pictures.  It is because this child takes after her father, and she loves it!

I found these two pics, so figured they deserved to be posted.  Mila's training wheels kept high centering while the snow was still around.  So, Dad tried to raise them a little.  It didn't really work out, though.  All this riding through the snow, and subsequent dirt, has made Amelia very wary of riding in our driveway.  She says it makes her too tippy.  She refuses to ride her bike any where but the 'smooth place' (ie, pavement).

So she's back to riding her tricycle, and her long legs are too much for it.  She has pretended not to notice.

Dad finally made some threats that if she didn't start riding her bike in the driveway, he'd take her bike back to the store.  However, as he is not entirely heartless, he bought her some elbow and shin guards (which came with little riding gloves!).  She was still quite wary, but did ride.  She only had one 'iffy' moment, but that was because her flip-flops caught her up.  Full protection, and flip-flops.  That's our daughter.

On a semi-side note; J.R. took Amelia for a date while I was trying to finish up some classes.  I told her a date happens when a boy really likes a girl, he takes her out so they can spend more time together.  Her face lit up, and she exclaimed 'Dad really likes me!  He like me better than he likes you'.

They ended up only having enough time to go to the sports store to get a helmet.  He told her she could pick out any helmet she wanted.  She was so ecstatic she proceeded to tell the salesman her whole helmet life story (ie, she had outgrown her yellow helmet, but needed to be safe so she needed a new one, etc, etc).  The salesman, having no choice but to listen, just stood there.  He mentioned to Daddy later that he was amazed that so much could come out of such a little thing.

As they were leaving, Amelia clutched her new helmet and would not let go.  She then asked Dad if that was what a date was?  I saw some irony that her only real knowledge of a date is an older man taking you out and buying you things.  She loved it!  She is also in love with her new helmet.  And her Daddy.
