After getting rid of the parentals, we were going to head back to fish the same river that JR had had his near death attack. However, JR was feeling pretty worn out by this time. His ankle had started really bothering him, and he was tired. We decided to head towards Anchorage, stay there one night and then head back home.
We stopped for lunch around Portage Glacier. Wasn't our view divine?
Amelia did a little fishing before she was willing to come have a few blueberries.
We drove through Anchorage, made a stop or two (ummm, Arby's), and then headed for our campground. We arrived, and the prospect of unpacking the car and setting up was just too much. We really just wanted to go home. I had begun to have fantasies about my pillows. We all settled in for a long drive . . . . . . . .
We got home a little sooner than we had been anticipating, but it was okay. It was nice to be back. JR was able to put his foot up, which is what his fantasies had been. Amelia managed to not sleep in a tent, not once.
The week was not quite what we had expected. We thought we would actually camp, but it turns out we are big namby-pamby's. Then there was the rain, and the emergency room visit. But we still have some experiences to talk about, and we had fun. It's always good to be home, though!
