A Soggy Day at the Zoo

As justification for dragging Amelia around so many stores that are so boring for her, we try to do one thing that is strictly for her.  Well, mostly for her.  Daddy had decided that this experience would be the zoo, and had been working on getting her all pumped up in the previous weeks.

Of course we woke up expecting some nice blue skies, but what we found was far from it.  So, it was an emergency trip to the store to find her some adequate rain gear.  Of which Dad then had to modify using his trusty pocket knife.  It seems that we use same said pocket knife way too much in regards to her.

It was a wet, wet day.  Seems as though the animals weren't real excited about the weather, either.  They were pretty mopey.  Amelia was super stoked to check them all out, though.
"Look, Dad.  These two are sweethearts!"
What actually gave her the biggest glee was the map.  She took over commando style and lead us on our adventure.
Paper map + rain + small child = pulp.  In case you were unaware.

'Ah, Mom.  Look at the cute puppies!'
'Yeah, I'd leave you in the woods with those little puppies!'
'No you wouldn't.  Would you . . . . .?'

She was super stoked to be there.  An interesting moment was in our visit to the snow leopard.  As we walked up, she perked up.  Then the people standing next to us started to make fun that the leopard looked like it was getting ready to stalk its next meal.  A meal nicely packaged in blue . . . . .  We told Amelia to got stand further away, and when she got there she got real excited that the leopard was looking right at her.  I guess she didn't see the drool and lip smacking coming for mommy leopards lips.  It actually creeped out both Mom and Dad.
